I am four chapters away from finishing the first draft of CITY OF TEETH. So exciting! Definitely will meet my unofficial March deadline. Then I must forfeit it to death by writing group. Huzzah!
Meanwhile, I LOVE The Wheel of Time so far, can't believe it took me so long to get into it! (Wait, yes I can. It's freaking 15 BOOKS LONG.) And relatives-slash-friends who have already savored the goodness of Robert Jordan are more than willing to let things slip about the story. :/ I already know who Mat ends up with in book 10 and I'm not even half way through book one!
So to all of those WoT fans who read this/talk to me on a regular basis, keep it to yourselves ;)

I love your writer's potpourri. And on a side note, have we discussed how weird the word potpourri is? Yeah, anyway, I hate to admit it, but I've never read WOT books. They overwhelm me.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's a little weird that you're always on time to places. We'll have to discuss that at the next writer's conf.
I haven't read the WoT series. Is this the series that didn't get finished because the author, erm, joined the writer's league in the sky?
ReplyDeleteYes, Robert Jordan had a terminal blood illness. At least he was aware of it in advance, so he was able to compile a whole bunch of notes and scraps for another author to take over. And to those who feel WoT is too big a read to take on...it's like eating an elephant. Just take it a bite at a time, and you'll find yourself actually craving more.
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad I DIDN'T start reading this series 30 years ago (for one thing, I wasn't even alive then), but having to wait 30 years for the conclusion of the story, which hopefully will be this year, would have killed me. I'm need instant gratification. So I guess there's something to be said about procrastinating.
